Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications. There are equally good opportunities for jobs in electrical engineering industry and higher education. There is lot of multidisciplinary research for developing electric vehicles with great funding and scope all over there world. On the same time good opportunities back home in industry.

The three years Diploma course educates the students to acquire their knowledge and skill in the areas of :

  • Operation and maintenance of Electrical machines.
  • Machine installation and commissioning Domestic & Industrial wiring.
  • Design & Layout of workshop.
  • Erection of substation & power equipments.
  • Fault analysis.

As a preindustrial activity the students are gurded to integrate their knowledge and skill through innovative project works.

Scope for Higher Education

After completion of three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering a student can avail the opportunity of joining the B.Tech programme through Lateral Entry admission test.

The department of Electrical Engineering was started in the year 2009 and this institute with an intake capacity 90 at present the department was setup keeping in view of the increasing demand of the industry and it able to fulfill the same.
The department has developed the following Laboratories:

Basic Electrical Lab.
Electrical Workshop.
Electrical Machine Lab.
Power Electronics Lab.


Fee Structure :
The fee structure of the programmed is NOTICEided by the Govt. of ORISSA every year before the commencement of admission process. Once admitted, the fee structure of a student remains the same throughout the period of his/her study provided the student finishes the coursework within duration of SIX consecutive semesters.

The counseling is based on the rank secured by the candidate in the DET, observing statutory reservation policy of State Government.

The criteria for DIPOLMA admission is prescribed by the JEE, Govt. of ORISSA
